titleOfInvention | Process for producing optically active 1- (fluoro, trifluoromethyl or trifluoromethoxy substituted phenyl) alkylamine N-monoalkyl derivatives |
abstract | The present invention provides an industrial process for producing optically active 1- (fluoro, trifluoromethyl or trifluoromethoxy substituted phenyl) alkylamine N-monoalkyl derivatives which are important intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. A fluoro, trifluoromethyl or trifluoromethoxy substituted phenyl alkyl ketone and an optically active primary amine are converted to an optically active imine by dehydration condensation, and then the imine is present in a hydrogen gas atmosphere in the presence of a transition metal catalyst. To an optically active secondary amine by asymmetric reduction, and further, reductive alkylation of the secondary amine and formaldehyde (including equivalents) or lower aldehyde in the presence of a transition metal catalyst in a hydrogen gas atmosphere By converting to an optically active tertiary amine and finally subjecting the tertiary amine to hydrogenolysis, the target optically active compound can be produced efficiently.
