A method of reducing the level of restenosis with medical intervention of stent placement, from the stent to vascular tissue in need of treatment with a controlled, extended, substantially linear drug release profile A method comprising sequential administration of a dose of an anti-restenosis agent such as paclitaxel. The method, which is a substantially linear extended release, increases the therapeutic efficacy of a given dose of medication. In one example, a method of inhibiting restenosis comprising 1% of the total dose of paclitaxel on the stent throughout the entire administration period from the stent implantation time to the time at which substantially all paclitaxel is released from the stent. Delivering paclitaxel from the stent to the artery at a minimum rate of release per day. |
