abstract [Problem] To provide a food or drink for prevention or treatment of cerebrovascular dementia and a preventive or therapeutic agent that can be safely used for a long time. A food or drink for preventing or treating cerebrovascular dementia comprises carnosine as an active ingredient, and suppresses neuronal cell death based on zinc that is excessively released after ischemia. The carnosine used may be either a synthetic product or a natural product, but a natural product is desirable from the viewpoint of safety. Natural products include, for example, boiled juice discharged during the manufacture of dried bonito and dried sardines, boiled juice discharged during the production of canned tuna, salmon, etc., or extracted, separated and purified from inexpensive raw materials such as waste chicken meat From the viewpoint of practicality, it is preferable. The dosage form, the form of food and drink, and the additive composition of the third component are acceptable without particular problems as long as they are pharmaceutically or food hygienically acceptable.
