Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device having excellent display quality by reducing film thickness unevenness of a retardation film. The maximum height difference (PV value) within a range of 60 mm in diameter with respect to an arbitrary point in the film is 1 μm or less, or the RMS value of the film thickness is 0.15 μm or less, or 60 mm. A polymer film characterized in that the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the orientation angle in a square of 60 mm is 0.40 degrees or less, a manufacturing method thereof, a polarizing plate using the polymer film, and a liquid crystal display using the polarizing plate apparatus.
