abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and uniform boron nitride nanotube dispersion liquid by polymer wrapping of boron nitride nanotubes, a method for producing the same, and a method for purifying boron nitride nanotubes using this dispersion liquid. Boron nitride nanotubes are added to a solution in which poly [m-phenylene vinylene-co- (2,5-dioctoxy-p-phenylene vinylene)] is dissolved in an organic solvent such as chloroform, and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. After sonication, the mixture is centrifuged to remove insoluble matters and a uniform transparent dispersion is produced. If the organic solvent is evaporated from this dispersion, and poly [m-phenylene vinylene-co- (2,5-dioctoxy-p-phenylene vinylene)] is removed by thermal decomposition, boron nitride nanotubes having a uniform diameter can be obtained.
