abstract | The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus for injecting and charging an electrophotographic photosensitive member by applying a charging member voltage disposed in contact with the electrophotographic photosensitive member having a structure in which a photosensitive layer and a surface protective layer are sequentially laminated. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus having an electrophotographic photosensitive member that can be charged by injection and charged with high sensitivity and low residual potential. An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes an electrophotographic photosensitive member having a structure in which at least a photosensitive layer and a surface protective layer are sequentially laminated on a conductive support, and a charging member disposed in contact with the electrophotographic photosensitive member. The surface protective layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member contains a conductive metal oxide and is photosensitive to the electrophotographic photosensitive member by injecting and charging the electrophotographic photosensitive member by applying a voltage to the charging member. The layer or the surface protective layer contains a naphthalenecarboxylic acid derivative of the formula (1) or a naphthalenecarboxylic acid derivative of the formula (1-2). [Selection] Figure 1 |
