abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method for dyeing and decoloring a gel, which includes decoloring a dye in the gel by electrophoresis. The method of dyeing and decoloring a gel according to the present invention comprises a dyeing step of dyeing a gel using an acidic aqueous solution containing a pigment and not containing alcohol, and the gel placed in the acidic aqueous solution containing no alcohol. A method of dyeing and decoloring a gel, comprising a decoloring step of applying a voltage and decolorizing the dye by electrophoresis. The method for dyeing and decoloring a gel of the present invention is particularly preferably used for CBB staining and decoloring in a gel after electrophoresis of proteins. The decoloring step includes, for example, a main body container 1, a pair of electrodes 2, and a gel container 3, and the pair of electrodes 2 and the gel container 3 disposed between the electrodes 2 are spacers of the main body container 1. 4 can be carried out using an electrophoretic decoloring apparatus 10 arranged in the main body container 1 in parallel with each other.
