abstract |
A method of diagnosing cervical cancer in a patient infected with human papilloma virus-16 (HPV-16) is disclosed. The method includes determining whether methylation is present at the CpG site of the HPV-16 genome in a sample obtained from a patient. The more CpG sites without methylation, the stronger the indication of cervical cancer. Also useful are primers and kits useful for carrying out the method. It is preferable to measure the methylation state of the CpG site at position 7862 of the HPV-16 genome. |
