Branched polyphosphonates formed using a polycondensation process, and as a result, have a Tg of at least 100 ° C., which is further improved in hydrolytic stability compared to other polyphosphonates. Disclosed are branched polyphosphonates that can be processed to have properties. The method and polyphosphonate composition may be made from readily available starting materials that provide low cost flame retardancy. Also, a polymer composition comprising these branched polyphosphonates and at least one other polymer, wherein the resulting polymer composition exhibits flame retardant properties. Is also disclosed. |
