PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biochip substrate that can be easily fixed and at the same time, can be easily processed without self-light emission and has good flatness and surface accuracy. A biochip substrate body is made of metal, and a carbon layer having an active group formed on the metal substrate body is used as a biochip substrate. [Effects] The biochip substrate is not only easy to process because the substrate body is made of metal, but also has excellent handleability because it does not crack or chip, and achieves high flatness and surface accuracy. Therefore, there is no problem that it is difficult to focus the optical system when detecting fluorescence. Furthermore, since the substrate body is made of metal, the fluorescence does not self-emit.
