PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic agent for ophthalmic diseases suitable for protecting and treating retinal neurons in ocular diseases. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] By administering PACAP (Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide), it is endogenous in Muller cells, which are the major glial cells (glial cells) of the retina. The production of sex bioactive factor IL-6 (interleukin-6) can be promoted, and cell death of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) forming the optic nerve can be indirectly suppressed or delayed.
