titleOfInvention | Process for producing optically active vinyl alcohols |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing optically active vinyl alcohols useful as intermediates for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and the like from vinyl methyl ketones which can be obtained at low cost. An unprecedented enzyme source having the ability to stereoselectively reduce only the secondary carbonyl group of vinyl methyl ketones and convert them into optically active vinyl alcohols has been discovered. The invention has been completed. In other words, optically active vinyl alcohols are produced by reducing vinyl methyl ketones by causing them to act on an enzyme source having the activity of asymmetric reduction of the compounds.
