PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing acetic acid which can reduce the production of by-products without reducing the reaction rate even when the water concentration in the reaction system is low and the hydrogen partial pressure is low. SOLUTION: In the presence of a rhodium catalyst, an iodide salt, methyl iodide, methyl acetate and water, methanol and carbon monoxide are continuously reacted to maintain acetic acid concentration in the reaction solution at 500 ppm or less, and acetic acid. Is produced at a production rate of 11 mol / L ยท hr or more, and the carbon monoxide partial pressure of the reactor gas phase is 1.05 MPa or more, or the methyl acetate concentration in the reaction solution is 2 wt% or more. The acetaldehyde production rate is maintained at 1/1500 or less of the acetic acid production rate. [Selection figure] None |
