abstract | The present invention is to minimize the amount of dissolved oxygen in a monomer and a reaction product so that the produced polyester resin is excellent in color without yellowing, excellent in thermal safety, and low in oligomer content. The present invention provides a method for producing a polyester resin and a polyester resin produced thereby, which are less thermally decomposed by oxygen and further excellent in catalyst activity and reactivity. The present invention relates to a step of performing nitrogen bubble ring on a reaction solution of a dicarboxylic acid component and a reaction solution of a diol component, and an esterification reaction or a reaction solution of the dicarboxylic acid component and the reaction solution of a diol component that are nitrogen bubbled. The method includes a step of producing an esterification product by a transesterification reaction, and a step of producing a polyester polycondensation product from the esterification product by a polycondensation reaction.
