PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaner-less type image forming apparatus in which only an intermediate transfer medium is used as a contact member with a latent image carrier, and to reduce the size of the image forming apparatus and to adhere an object to the surface of the latent image carrier. It is an object of the present invention to provide an image forming apparatus that can be reduced. A cleanerless latent image carrier in which a latent image carrier is provided with non-contact charging means, electrostatic latent image forming means, and developing means for non-contact development of an electrostatic latent image with negatively charged spherical toner. In the image forming apparatus in which the toner image formed on the latent image carrier is transferred to an intermediate transfer medium to form a color toner image and transferred onto a recording material in a batch, the spherical toner is colored with the binder resin. The toner is composed of toner base particles composed of an agent and hydrophobic alumina additive particles, and the work function (Φ Al ) of the hydrophobic alumina additive particles is made larger than the work function (Φ TM ) of the intermediate transfer medium.
