[PROBLEMS] To reduce the amount of overcharged toner transferred to an intermediate transfer medium to prevent the toner from firmly adhering to the intermediate transfer medium in a primary transfer section and to perform secondary transfer. Improve the transfer efficiency in the section. A latent image carrier and developing means for forming a negatively charged toner layer on the toner carrier by a toner layer thickness regulating member are provided, and the toner can form an electrostatic latent image on the latent image carrier. In an image forming apparatus for visualizing and transferring the visible image to an intermediate transfer medium, a work function (Φ TM ) is equal to or greater than the toner work function (Φ t ). |
