The present invention relates to a fat-containing consumable food product having α-cyclodextrin. The food product has the same fat, cholesterol and caloric content as a similar food product with low levels of bioavailable fat but no alpha-cyclodextrin. The present invention also provides a method for reducing the bioavailability of fat in a fat-containing food without reducing caloric intake as measured by bomb calorimetry, and the subject by providing the food of the present invention. It also relates to a method for increasing the high density lipoprotein and a method for reducing or controlling body weight. |
