Latex and inkjet inks prepared using protected acid monomers |
abstract |
【Task】 Highly functional latex particulates that can be used in inkjet inks are provided. [Solution] The present invention uses an acid monomer having a protecting group in order to incorporate strongly acidic groups such as strong acids and polyacids by emulsion polymerization on the latex particle surface. According to the present invention, a method for forming latex particulates having a high surface charge density comprises the steps of preparing a monomer emulsion comprising an aqueous phase and an organic monomer phase comprising at least one protected acid monomer, Polymerizing the phase to form protected acid latex particulates that are dispersed in the aqueous phase, and deprotecting the protected acid latex particulates to form acidified latex particulates.
