abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aralkyl-modified phenol resin having a low content of unreacted phenols in a high yield. A process for producing an aralkyl-modified phenol resin, comprising reacting phenols, aldehydes and aralkyl ethers with phosphoric acids. It is preferable to use 0.2 mol or more of phosphoric acid per mol of phenol, and the phosphoric acid is preferably phosphoric acid. According to the production method of the present invention, an aralkyl-modified phenol resin having a low content of unreacted phenols can be efficiently obtained in a high yield.
