abstract Provided is a method for efficiently producing a target γ-D-glutamyl compound by suppressing a side reaction that occurs when a γ-glutamyl transpeptidase is used to produce a γ-glutamyl compound. In the presence of γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, a γ-D-glutamyl group donor γ-D-glutamyl group is amide-bonded to an amino group of a γ-glutamyl group acceptor. A method for producing a glutamyl compound, wherein the γ-glutamyl transpeptidase is an enzyme that does not recognize a D-amino acid and a peptide whose N-terminus is a D-amino acid residue as a γ-glutamyl group receptor, As the γ-glutamyl group receptor, an amino group-containing compound other than a D-amino acid and a peptide whose N-terminal is a D-amino acid residue is used.
