abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a substance having an effect of amplifying disease resistance to plants, which has the potential to dramatically reduce the amount of pesticides used. A rare sugar which is recognized as a foreign substance by a plant, activates a group of plant resistance genes, and has an action of promoting an increase in resistance to pathogenic bacteria and pests.
