abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a method for obtaining an asymmetric 2,2′-dihalogenated biphenyl derivative having an arbitrary substituent in a simple and high yield. SOLUTION: A metallocyclopentadiene (2) is reacted with acetylene (3) in the presence of a transition metal compound, and then this is treated with a halogenating agent to obtain a dihalogenated biphenyl derivative (1).
