abstract A method for producing a triorganosilyl unsaturated carboxylate with high yield, high purity, and low cost is provided. SOLUTION: Expression (1) R 1 (R 2 ) C = C (R 3 ) —COOH (1) [R 1 is H, an alkyl group or — (CH 2 ) n COOR 7 group, R 2 and R 3 are H, a methyl group or —COOR 8 group, and at least one of R 2 and R 3 is H, , R 1 is an alkyl group or — (CH 2 ) n COOR 7 group, R 2 and R 3 are both H] and an unsaturated carboxylic acid of the formula (2) ClSiR 4 (R 5 ) (R 6 ) (2) [R 4 , R 5 and R 6 represent an alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group] by reacting a triorganochlorosilane with a dehydrochlorinating agent to obtain a compound of the formula (3) R 1 (R 2) C = C (R 3) -COO-SiR 4 (R 5) (R 6) (3) In the method for producing a triorganosilyl unsaturated carboxylate, the reaction is carried out in an ether-based solvent or in a mixed solvent thereof with a hydrocarbon-based solvent using ammonia as a base as a dehydrochlorinating agent .
