(57) [Summary]nA polybifunctional reagent having a polymer backbone, one or more pendent photoreactive components, and two or more pendent bioactive groups. The reagent can be activated to form the biological material, or can be contacted with the surface of the preformed biological material and activated to form a coating. Pendent bioactive groups function by promoting the attachment of specific molecules or cells to bulk materials or coated surfaces. Bioactive groups can include proteins, peptides, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and other molecules that can non-covalently bind to a molecule or a specific and complementary portion of a cell. |
