abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To select ruthenium safely and easily from ruthenium-containing materials without using oxidative distillation method with high risk or solvent extraction method that requires a lot of chemicals and complicated operation. And a method for purification. SOLUTION: A ruthenium-containing substance is mixed with an alkali hydroxide to form a slurry, which is oxidized with sodium hypochlorite to selectively leaching ruthenium. By reducing this leachate with alcohol, ruthenium hydroxide is obtained as a precipitate. The precipitate of the ruthenium hydroxide is washed with nitric acid or dissolved again in hydrochloric acid, and then crystallized as a hardly soluble chloro complex salt, whereby ruthenium can be further purified.
