abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a clay-organic composite having high heat resistance and being uniformly dispersed in a polymer. SOLUTION: A swellable layered silicate such as montmorillonite is treated with a nitrogen-containing aromatic ion such as 1-methyl-3-butylbenzimidazole chloride, and an organic onium such as the above ion is interposed between layers of the silicate. Ions are included to form the clay-organic complex.
