Acidic superabsorbent polysaccharide |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]n(A) cross-linking at least one polysaccharide containing an acidic group such as carboxymethylcellulose and / or 6-carboxystarch with a cross-linking agent to produce a gel, and (b) if necessary, adjusting the pH of the polysaccharide to 3.5. Acid superabsorbent comprising the steps of: (c) grinding the acidified polysaccharide gel and (d) drying the finely ground polysaccharide at elevated temperature. A method for producing a polysaccharide derivative is disclosed. The superabsorbent polysaccharides obtained by this method have a pH of 5.5 or less and provide odor control when contacted with malodorous liquids. |
