abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for efficiently producing cyclic phenol sulfides having 4, 6, and 8 polymerizations. SOLUTION: A 4-position-substituted phenol and sulfur dichloride are reacted in a solvent to produce a linear phenol sulfide dimer, which is reacted with elemental sulfur in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide.
