abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag which is small, lightweight, flexible, and excellent in compactness, is excellent in combustion safety and has a large tear strength, and a base fabric for the airbag. SOLUTION: The oil content is 0.5 to 5 wt%, which is made of polyamide fiber, is applied to the surface of the base fabric, has a pH of 6.5 to 11 when extracted with water from the base fabric, and burns the oil extracted with the solvent from the base fabric. A base fabric for an airbag, wherein the pH of the treated residue when extracted with water is 2 to 6.
