abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a sulfur-containing propargyl alcohol having a high yield and a high optical purity by using a relatively simple and inexpensive reagent. SOLUTION: The presence of a lipase capable of stereoselectively esterifying one of R-form and S-form of (R, S) -sulfur-containing propargyl alcohol represented by the general formula [I] in an organic solvent in an organic solvent. By reacting with an esterifying agent to form an ester of one of the optically active sulfur-containing propargyl alcohols represented by the general formula [II], The other optically active sulfur-containing propargyl alcohol represented by Thereby, a sulfur-containing propargyl alcohol having a high yield and a high optical purity is obtained.
