titleOfInvention Improvements in and relating to sulphonamides
abstract The invention comprises sulphonamides of the formula <FORM:0822947/IV (a)/1> wherein R is an alkyl group, preferably containing 3-6 carbon atoms, and their preparation by reacting a reactive derivative of benzenesulphonic acid such as an ester or halide with a 2-alkyl-5-amino-thiadiazole. Suitably a benzenesulphonyl halide, such as the chloride is reacted in the presence of an acidbinding agent such as pyridine. In an example, the preparation of 2-n-butyl-5-benzenesulphonamide thiadiazole and the corresponding 2-n-propyl-, isopropyl-, isobutyl-, sec-butyl-, tert-butyl- and amyl-derivatives is described.
