titleOfInvention New pyrimidine compounds
abstract The invention comprises compounds, having chemotherapeutic properties, of the general formula <FORM:0731956/IV (b)/1> (where R is an aliphatic radical containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl or aralkyl radical and is preferably an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms) and their salts. They may be prepared by reacting 2-amino-4-chloro - 5 - (41 - chlorophenyl) - 6 - ethyl pyrimidine or its 2-acetylamino derivative with an amine of the formula RNH2 or with a salt of such an amine. When using an amine as such, the reactants are heated to above 100 DEG C., optionally in the presence of a solvent such as ethanol, and when using a lower aliphatic amine, under superatmospheric pressure. If the amine salt is used, the reaction proceeds above 150 DEG C. in the absence of a solvent and in all cases under normal pressure. In the example, compounds are described of the above formula where R is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, n-pentyl, n-hexyl, 21-butyl, 31-pentyl, 31-methyl-butyl, cyclohexyl, allyl and benzyl. Specification 730,499 is referred to.
