abstract A barrier cream in the form of an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion comprises a soap or similar long chain fatty acid polar compound, an oil or wax, an emulsifier and a sun-screening agent A particularly preferred embodiment comprises 15% triethanolamine stearate, 7.5% liquid paraffin, 7.5% cetostearyl alcohol, and 2% superfine titanium dioxide. The composition thus formed provides enhanced resistance to contamination by industrial materials and enhanced resistance to sunlight when compared to the same composition without the titanium dioxide.
