Mono-long chain amine oxide surfactants can be prepared containing active levels of greater than about 30%, by weight of amine, and with low nitrite and nitrosamine levels when the amine is oxidized in the presence of bicarbonate material present at levels less than about 2.5%, by weight of amine, and without the presence of phase-modifying solvents. |
