There are provided prosthetic devices of a very wide scope of application, which, after surgical implantation, form an integral structure with surrounding tissue. The implants of the invention comprise a rigid core, made of a biocompatible material, to which there is bonded a layer covering at least part of the core, and which layer comprises a matrix of a biocompatible material in which there are embedded collagen fibers forming a network, and which fibers protrude from the surface of such layer, and which protruding parts thereof are adapted to form an entity with the surrounding tissue after implantation. |
