Clutch control in automatic transmission apparatus for vehicle |
abstract |
A friction clutch (15) is controlled so as to go to a standby state, when vehicle conditions, such as vehicle speed engine speed and gear ratio appropriate, and is then half-engaged when a load sensor (85), detecting accelerator pedal movement, detects an increase in engine load. n<??>The above control procedure operates in a vehicle start mode and may also operate in a hill-start mode wherein a wheel brake (107) is held engaged, with the clutch (15) half engaged, until engine speed has reached a high target value. n<??>The system may have warning lights for low air pressure (115) and clutch wear (117) and transmission ratio indicator (67). An exhaust brake (121) is disabled before clutch control commences. The system can adjust engine speed by actuator 25 operating on the fuel injection pump. n<IMAGE> |
