1337291 Stabilization of monomers SANKYO CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970] 24901/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] The polymerization of vinyl and vinylidene monomers is inhibited by the addition of a compound of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 is each a C 1 -C 11 alkyl group or a phenyl group and one may be H; or R 1 and R 2 together form the group - which R 3 and R 4 have the same meaning as R 1 and R 2 , X is -(CH 2 ) 3 -, -CH 2 CO-CH 2 -, -CH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 -, -CO-NH 2 -, -CH 2 O-, or CH 2 CHCH 3 O and Y and Y 1 are H or OH. The compounds of Formula I in which X is -CH 2 O- and Y is H can be prepared by and others by Preferred specified compounds are: 1-aza-2,2- dimethyl-4-oxa-spiro[4,4]nonane and 2,2,5,5- tetramethyl-4-oxoimidazolidine. |
