abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a rare earth sulphide from an oxygenated rare earth compound comprising a step a) of reacting said oxygenated rare earth compound with a sulfur compound of formula (I) in which: R represents an alkyl radical, linear or branched, or alkenyl, linear or branched, containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; n is 0, 1 or 2; x is equal to 0 or to an integer taking the values 1 to 10, preferably x is an integer equal to 1, 2, 3 or 4; R 'represents an alkyl radical, linear or branched, or alkenyl, linear or branched, containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or, only if n = x = 0, a hydrogen atom; said rare earth oxygen compound being an oxide of said rare earth, a hydroxide of said rare earth, a hydrocarbonate of said rare earth or a carbonate of said rare earth or a mixture of all these compounds. |
