The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising an extruded support essentially based on alumina, and consisting of a plurality of juxtaposed agglomerates optionally at least one oxide or a sulphide of a metal consisting of copper, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, nickel or cobalt in which the sum S of the metals of the group consisting of copper, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, nickel or cobalt is between 0% and 70% by weight, and characterized in that that each of these agglomerates is in part in the form of stacks of sheets and in part in the form of needles being uniformly dispersed both around the stacks of sheets and between the sheets. It also relates to its use in a fixed bed reactor, for the removal of heavy metals from a hydrocarbon feed. |
