abstract CATALYTIC COMPONENT OF TITANIUM TRICHLORIDE. IT IS PREPARED BY A SOLVENT IN A SATURATED ALIPHATIC HYDROCARBON OR AN ALICYCLIC HYDROCARBIDE OR A MIXTURE OF THE TWO TITANIUM TETRACHLORIDE, AN ETHER AND AN ORGANO-ALUMINIC COMPOUND, THE LATTER BEING ADDED AT A TEMPERATURE AND NEXT TO 55 SOLVENT 20 TO 70 BY VOLUME OF A HALOGENOUS AROMATIC HYDROCARBON, AND AFTER THE ADDITION OF THE ORGANO-ALUMINUM COMPOUND, THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SOLVENT IS RAISED BETWEEN 45 AND 150C IN A PERIOD OF 10 MINUTES TO 24 HOURS, WHICH SEPARATES THE SOLVENT ONE COMPONENT CATALYTIC OF TITANIUM TRICHLORIDE IN PARTICLES OF VERY REGULAR DIAMETER, THE AVERAGE VALUE OF WHICH CAN BE ADJUSTED TO VOLUNTARY BETWEEN 10 AND 1000 MICRONS. THIS CATALYTIC COMPONENT, ASSOCIATED WITH AN ORGANO-ALUMINUM COMPOUND, PROVIDES A VERY ACTIVE CATALYTIC SYSTEM FOR THE HOMOPOLYMERIZATION AND COPOLYMERIZATION OF A-OLEFINS, ALLOWING TO OBTAIN POLYOLEFINS IN PARTICLES OF VERY REGULAR DIAMETER OF ONE HIGHT, WHICH STEREOSPECIFICITY AND A STRONG CRYSTALLINITY. BECAUSE OF THIS HIGH ACTIVITY AND OF THIS STEREOSPECIFICITY, THE WASHING OPERATIONS INTENDED TO ELIMINATE THE REMNANTS OF CATALYSTS AND THE NON-STEREOSPECIFIC PARTS CAN BE ABOLISHED OR AT LEAST SIMPLIFIED.
