DISPERSION OF COLLAGEN FIBERS, ITS PREPARATION PROCESS AND ITS APPLICATIONS |
abstract |
The subject of the invention is a process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of collagen fibers, characterized in that it consists in soaking the collagen material in a 0.3 to 1.0 N aqueous solution of NaOH and containing 10 at 25% by weight of Na2 SO4 and 0.05 to 0.3 M of an amine at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees C for 5 hours to 10 days; washing with water to remove salts from the soaked material; mechanically grinding the material in an aqueous medium having a pH of 3.5 to 9.5 at a temperature below 25 degrees C to obtain bundles of collagen fibers; tanning the bundles of collagen fibers by treating them in a solution of tanning agent at a concentration of 0.005 to 10% (w / v) at a temperature of 25 to 35 degrees C for 2 to 40 hours; and mechanically grinding and homogenizing the tanned fiber bundles at a pH between 2.0 and 4.0 or 9.0 to 11.0 to obtain a dispersion of collagen fibers with a diameter of 4 to 12 microns and with a length between 2 and 25 mm. The dispersion thus obtained can be used for the manufacture of various shaped articles. |
