abstract The invention relates to a flame retardant composition based on ammonium polyphosphate with a polymer content between 50 and 70% by weight and a P 2 O 5 (phosphoric anhydride) content between 30 and 40% by weight, such that the composition incorporates: as a corrosion inhibitor, urea at a percentage between 3 and 10% by weight in aqueous solution between 40% and 60% by weight, in combination with sodium polyphosphates with a chain length between 2 and 6, complemented with Zn derivatives (excluding phosphates) and triazoles; as an inorganic thickener, modified sepiolite at a percentage between 1 and 4% by weight; as an organic thickener, granulated xanthan gum at a percentage between 0.5 and 1.5% by weight; as inorganic pigment dyes, derivatives from the family of iron oxides at a percentage between 0.5 and 2.0% by weight, and as fugitive dyes, derivatives from the family of cochineal red dyes at a percentage between 0.2 and 0.8% by weight.
