abstract | The present invention relates to microRNAs (miR-7a, miR-215 and miR-375) for use in the in vitro diagnosis of insulitis and the in vitro prognosis of future type 1 diabetes development. The invention also relates to miR-specific primers and probes, kits comprising these primers and/or probes, and in vitro methods of diagnosis and prognosis using these primers and/or probes. Also provided are methods for assessing the effectiveness of a therapeutic treatment for insulitis or of a treatment for preventing type 1 diabetes onset, as well as methods of screening for candidate compounds potentially useful in the treatment for insulitis or in the prevention of type 1 diabetes onset. |
