titleOfInvention | Polymethyl methacrylate bone cement |
abstract | A two-component bone cement is proposed which comprises A) a paste as component A comprising a1) methyl methacrylate, a2) at least one methyl methacrylate-soluble polymer having a number average molecular weight less than 500,000 daltons, a3) at least one particulate polymer insoluble in methyl methacrylate, containing a Particle size D50 smaller than 50 microns, a4) at least one soluble in methyl methacrylate hydroperoxide and a5) at least one soluble in methyl methacrylate tertiary amine; and B) a powder as component B comprising b1) at least one particulate radiopaque having a particle size D50 smaller than 50 μm, b2) at least one heavy metal salt soluble in methyl methacrylate and b3) at least one reducing agent soluble in methyl methacrylate.n n n By mixing the paste A with the powdery component B, a tack-free, plastically deformable cement dough, which cures independently by free-radical polymerization, is formed without adherence to a waiting time. |
