titleOfInvention | Production of high-molecular-weight silicone resins |
abstract | Process for the preparation of silicone resins having a molecular weight expressed as weight average Mw of at least 5,000 g / mol and a polydispersity of not more than 65, characterized in that (A) silicon-bonded alkoxy-group-bearing silicone resin intermediate or silicon-bonded alkoxy group- and hydroxyl-group-bearing silicone resin intermediate or mixtures thereof with (C) a basic or acidic catalyst imparting basicity or acidity to the mixture or mixtures of such catalysts which are not completely neutralizing each other (D) water and (E) an aliphatic carboxylic ester as sole process solvent be hydrolyzed and condensed, with the stipulations that I) the resulting alcohol is distilled off from the reaction mixture, and II) the catalyst (C) is inactivated by thermal treatment or by neutralization via the addition of an equivalent amount of acid or base, and III) a part of (E) for viscosity adjustment and solution of the forming silicone resin remains in the final product. |
