The present application is related to a method for the production of 1,2-propanediol in a fermentative process comprising the following steps: n - culturing a modified microorganism in an appropriate culture medium comprising a source of carbon, n- modulating in said microorganism the level of expression of the gene gapA via an external stimulus and n- recovering 1,2-propanediol from the culture medium, nwherein in said modified microorganism, the expression of the gene gapA coding for the enzyme GAPDH is under the control of a heterologous inducible promoter. Advantageously, the inducible promoter is regulated by temperature, via a modified lambda repressor allele. The application is also related to a genetically modified microorganism for an improved production of 1,2-propanediol. |
