Method for producing dialkylcarbonates from alkyl carbonates and alcohols |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a continuous process for the preparation of lower dialkyl carbonates as the main product and alkylene glycol as a by-product by catalyzed transesterification of a cyclic alkylene carbonate (for example ethylene or propylene carbonate) with lower alcohols, the reaction of the alkylene carbonate with a dialkyl carbonate-containing alcohol being carried out in countercurrent, characterized in that an introduction of a stream containing at least 99.5 wt .-% alcohol below the introduction site for the dialkyl carbonate-containing alcohol takes place in a certain distance ratio between the aforementioned introduction sites. |
