This invention provides a surfactant-free nanocomposite material comprising: n(a) an intercalant polymer, n(b) a layered material, and n(c) an oxide selected from the group consisting of silica, titania, zirconia, and mixtures thereof, n nwherein the intercalant polymer (a) represents at least 40% by weight of the nanocomposite material, and wherein the weight ratio (c)/(b) ranges from 0.01 to 10. n This nanocomposite material is useful for making moulded, cast or extruded articles having improved mechanical and thermal properties. |
