The present invention provides a catalyst capable ofnproducing an epoxy compound in high yield and improving thenutilization efficiency of the oxidizing agent as well as anmethod of producing an epoxy compound using that catalyst. n A catalyst for producing an epoxy compound bynoxidizing a compound having at least one ethylenic doublenbond with an oxidizing agent, n comprising a polyatom-containingnheteropolyoxometalate anion (A1) having two defectivenand/or three defective structure sites and containingnsilicon as the heteroatom, and n an element (E1) being at least one element selectednfrom the group consisting of vanadium, tantalum, niobium,nantimony, bismuth, chromium, molybdenum, selenium,ntellurium, rhenium, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium,npalladium, osmium, platinum, iridium, silver, gold, zinc,naluminum, gallium, indium, scandium, yttrium, titanium,nzirconium, hafnium, germanium, tin and lanthanoids, andnbeing different from the polyatom. |
