abstract The description relates to a process for the productionnof esters of heparin, wherein from 0.1 to 2g of a halogenatednreagent having the formula R-CH 2 -X, where R isna phenyl group which is non-substituted or substitutednby a halogen atom or by a nitro group, and X is a halogennatom, preferably chlorine, are reacted with from 2nto 20g of one of the quaternary ammonium salts of heparinnin from 30 to 250ml of N,N-dimethylformamide and/ornN,N-dimethylacetamide. n The process in question allows esters of heparin to benobtained at lower cost and within shorter times thannthe methods known in the art, minimising among othernthings the use of lachrymatory reagents, such as, fornexample, benzyl chloride.
